Wellspent – Budget Planner, Tracker and Assistant Review

Would your money be well spent on this financial tracker for iPhone?

WellSpent is a budget planner that lets you keep an eye on your finances. Although it does not let you sync with your bank account or credit card – it suggests the manual approach puts you in active control of your money – the app provides just enough features to enable you to stay on top of your money.

You can set up unlimited, multiple budgets, displaying a brief overview of six at any one time. Each budget can be colour co-ordinated and you can also select the date that you wish the budget cycle to start on.

Adding transactions is easy enough. It asks for an amount, a description and a date and displays how much money you have left. You can then view each budget’s individual history and chart expenditure month-by-month for comparison. The idea is that you can note just where your spending is going astray and fix it before it gets out of hand. We like the way transactions are unlimited and can be edited, but it really does suffer from not having key elements such as the ability to export.

Wellspent also lacks bill reminders. It feels as if you are merely adding entries to a database with no additional assistance, and it doesn’t help either that the app uses a gloomy black background that makes the whole thing feel less enjoyable to use.

Rated 3 out of 5

A simple budget planner that lacks financial assistance such as reminders or graphs.
