The Naked Gun: I.C.U.P.

Point, tap and pratfall

Based on the police career of Lt. Frank Drebin Junior, this is a great point and click adventure game that riffs on the same brand of humour as the Naked Gun movies, throwing you into the shoes of a bumbling cop on the beat. In terms of tone, the game is spot on, with Drebin’s nonsensical monologues set to smooth jazz music and the groans of his baffled and long-suffering colleagues every time he commits a faux pas. Developer DNA Interactive has really captured the comedy of the movies perfectly.

Control follows a simple point and click format, as you tap to make Drebin walk and interact  with objects. Objects can be activated, picked up and combined to help you complete the many cases waiting to be cracked. As you explore the city you will find new case notes that, when  filed, open up side missions that reward Drebin with a little money.

Cash can be spent on new outfits for Drebin, as well as food and making phone calls to suspects and witnesses for more information.

Occasionally you will have to engage bad guys in shoot outs by tapping on enemies to fire and hitting the gun icon to reload when ammo is low. It’s simple, but breaks up the slower pace of the point and click sections, as some of them do get quite slow at times. Otherwise, this is great fun.
