Solar Walk – 3D Solar System Model Review

Explore the stars in stunning 3D with Solar Walk for iPhone, iPad and Android

The vast, black expanse of space never ceases to fascinate but the majority of us will never get a chance to fly around it. It is up to apps like Solar Walk to bring the universe to the palm of your hand, allowing you to interact with planets and moons while also getting a close up glimpse of the sun.

Solar Walk appears to be as infinite as space itself. It is packed with features that go way beyond simply swiping and pinching in and out to zoom. The planets are clearly labeled and tapping on one shows it up close. You can turn planets on their axis, discover fascinating information ranging from Did You Knows to figures and general facts. You can look at the internal structure of planets, watching as the app slices through them via a slick animation. Swiping in from the right gives you a greater understanding of each section, building your level of knowledge. There are movies too.

The app draws on the time and you can see the movements of celestial bodies in relation to each other. You can also view their trajectories. Even satellites around Earth can be viewed and analysed. With the ability to view the app on a 3D television (or via cyan-red 3D glasses), Solar Walk seems to have it all.
