A dedicated app for your podcast collection

Despite the scope of things you can do on smartphones and tablets, podcasts are hugely popular among iTunes users, and for that reason Apple has launched a dedicated app.

Podcasts allows you to search, subscribe and play podcasts all from one place, without having to jump backwards and forwards between your library and the iTunes store. This app has been designed to make the whole affair more seamless, and therefore more enjoyable and accessible. In interface terms this is quite clear, with a neat grid of all your current downloads greeting you upon launching the app. You can pick up and drop tiles within the grid if you so wish, in order to keep things organised however you want. There is also an Edit icon which, if tapped, allows you to delete podcasts and series from the on-screen list. The list itself is instantly generated when you use the app for the first time, taking info from your iTunes library. This of course means you don’t have to worry about re-subscribing to all your favourites.

Being an Apple-developed app, Podcasts is unsurprisingly very functional. There is a slide tab at the top of the screen that allows you to quickly jump from pod to vodcasts when searching the Top Stations section, whose radio style dial of topics is a really nice interface touch.
