Morning Coffee

Start your day with your favourite feeds at your fingertips

Morning Coffee presents a deceptively simple take on night stand apps, doing almost the exact opposite of their traditional function. Instead of offering a night-orientated collection of widgets such as an alarm clock and weather, it focuses on the kind of stuff you’d like to see first thing in the morning.

As well as an integrated alarm to ensure you wake up, Morning Coffee features two full RSS tickers, a Facebook feed, weather forecasts and a customisable links section. Needless to say, this app is packed full of information that’s worth waking up to. Editing any of the different widgets within the app is as easy clicking on the info icon and tapping in any changes, although you will need some knowledge of the workings of RSS feeds if you’re to change this section.

Despite its sizeable feature set and ease of use, you’re still left with the feeling that Morning Coffee is a little lacking in places. It’d be nice to have the ability to remove and add new widgets in a drag-and-drop style or save different dashboards for easy switching. Even an integrated Twitter feed would go some way to adding a bit of depth to what is otherwise a painfully straightforward app. Let’s hope that a few more updates and new feature additions can really make it worth downloading.

Morning Coffee might be a little limited, but it accomplishes its basic goal with aplomb.
