Discover the hidden wonders of some of America’s great cities
Travel guides have always been a delight for people wanting to see the hidden side of a city. Anyone can visit the Statue of Liberty, but it’s a little harder to find ‘the best way to lose your mind’, to directly quote the app. A modern take on the guidebook, Know What succeeds because the majority of its content is sourced from the community. The beauty of this is that places off the beaten track could become your tourist attraction of choice, all because you happened to see where the best hiking trails are. At this early stage, it’s only covering LA and San Francisco Bay, but with New York, Chicago, Seattle and Portland on the cards, it should be an app that keeps on giving. With that said, there is a cost to bear in mind. Aside from the 200 free hot spots, the rest have to be purchased in-app.
All-in-all, however, Know What drags sightseeing into the modern day and proves that every city has hundreds of untouched highlights.
An excellent app for the constant traveller, but those who nip abroad on a more casual basis may not be so blown away.
