Get motivated to exercise thanks to your iOS device
Kinomap Trainer presents perhaps the most practical and immersive use for an iPad or iPhone when it comes to exercise and training that we’ve seen.
With a little bit of wireless trickery, a few tracking devices, an exercise bike, rowing machine, or treadmill and a whole host of user-submitted route videos, Kinomap Trainer can take you on a journey across some of the world’s most exciting running, biking or rowing routes without you even having to leave home.
Once you’ve hooked up the sensors to your exercise bike (or the stride sensors and heart rate monitors to yourself) and plugged in a receiver to your iPhone or iPad (all of these are sold separately), you’ll be able to fire up the Kinomap Trainer, set up an account, select a video and get started with your training.
The app itself functions like a bit of a head-up display, showing you how you’re doing in relation to the pace of the video, vital statistics about the route such as elevation and much more. It’s all pretty advanced stuff and it’s clear that a lot of thought’s gone into it.
What’s even more impressive is that using AirPlay mirroring, you can link the app up with your TV to display the video of the route on a larger screen in front of you, leaving your iPad free to display all the stats.
Kinomap Trainer pretty much revolutionises the classic exercise bike in your living room setup.
