Beer Citizen Review

The beer connoisseur’s Android only pocket guide

The world is filled with beer, and with it a variety of tastes, textures and tipples that no one person could experience in their entirety. However, Beer Citizen aims to, in some small way, make the dream of trying as many beers as humanly possible a little easier.
There are a number of functions crammed into the app, primary among them being a database of beers – whether lager, bitter and every minute difference in between – stuffed with reviews from other beer fans. Reviews can include a number of different aspects, from taste and flavour, to shape, consistency, and even the longevity of the drink’s head.
The overwhelming number of topics can be a little much – especially considering each is rated on a 100-point scale – but it’s good to see the general consensus among the community. Of course, such a thorough review system means two things: first, that you can enter a pub and never worry about what you’re going to drink, and second, that you can keep track of all those fancy-named beers you’d like to try.
The app itself is easy to use and well-presented, which is impressive considering the wealth of beer and brewery information stored inside. It all links up to Facebook and Twitter so you’ll easily be able to share your latest discovery, though the app can sometimes be a little slow and unresponsive.

Rated 3 out of 5

Stop shouting lager, lager, lager and appreciate a fine tipple. Lag aside, this is a great little app for fans of the independent beer brewer.
