Turf Geography Club Review

Real life Monopoly mixed with Tiny Tower to create a unique and entertaining gaming experience

There are plenty of ways to achieve ‘world domination’ on your iPhone, but perhaps none are quite as literal as what you can do in Turf Geography Club. The game takes the idea of checking into various locations on your device and allows players to build virtual property based on real check-ins, earning points for the amount of traffic you get at the location. Then, in echoes of classic Monopoly gameplay, you can add floors to your property, increasing its net worth and the amount of points you get from the traffic that comes through it. You can buy and sell your properties if you feel like being a businessperson about it, but there is also a lot of fun to be had from the mini-game where you can challenge to take over a check-in location. You must own the location in order build on it, and to do that you have to win the slot machine mini-game against the current owner.

This is the game in a nutshell, and it’s easy to see the potential scope given that it’s based on check-ins, so wherever you go, you can claim or challenge for territory and build up your own turf.

For the time being you cannot create locations in the game, instead only being able to see those that are close to your current location and challenging for them, but the developers have hinted that this could change in the future, adding another creative dimension to an already very clever little game.

Rated 5 out of 5

Unlike anything else you would have played on iOS, and more than likely to have you checking in when you go somewhere new.
