PhotosPro – Photos App Reinvented Review

Manage, share and collate your iPhone and iPad images with PhotosPro

Google, Apple, Microsoft, Dropbox… everyone wants to take charge of the unsightly pile of photos we’re shooting on our smartphones and tablets. No one’s quite cracked the formula yet though, so you can’t blame PixoMobile for giving it a stab with PhotosPro. It does a decent job of showing you your recent pictures in an appealing grid-based interface, and there’s an interesting map view that indicates exactly where each shot was taken. It’s also possible to jump to other albums besides the Camera Roll.

Sharing one or more images is nice and straightforward too, via whatever third-party accounts you’ve hooked up to iOS — Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and Dropbox options are all here – and doing so only takes a few taps. You can also build ‘Stories’, collections of text and images that tell the tale of a particular holiday or a day out — all of this is handled by a linked PixoMobile service called Pixotale.

In many ways PhotosPro offers a superior experience to the rather basic Photos app that is built into iOS, but without any truly compelling features to recommend the app, it’s not something we’ll be coming back to again and again. On the other hand, if you find the integrated iOS photo experience frustrating to work with, then a mere £1.50 is only a small price to pay for a better replacement.

Rated 3 out of 5

An improvement on iOS Photos, but short on features that make it truly stand out.
