MeteoEarth Review

Come rain or shine, everyone can be a weatherman with MeteoEarth for Android

Although you could just peer out of the window to see the weather in action, using an app like MeteoEarth to do it is just so much more fun. Not only does the app have slick presentation, it has a practical use too, offering a deeper vision of the weather than you would ever hope to get from a run-of-the-mill weather app.

It delivers quality information that can be localised to your position. It does this with the minimum of fuss – while there is a second or two delay at times as the app starts to process the data, the weather is presented to you as soon as you launch the app.

At the top you will see the weather in a particular city. This can be changed to suit you. You can also tap on the arrow icon to go straight to your location. The lighting can be altered from day to night and you can call up information that explains what you are seeing.

Whether you view in 2D or 3D, the app will show you the temperature that denotes how cold or hot an area is by a range of dots. You can add a precipitation layer too and get an explanation for what each of the colours means. Cloud are shown clearly and air currents are animated, pointing you to the flow and speed. Colours show air pressure. It takes a while to get your head around but it’s just amazing.

Rated 5 out of 5

Rather than just tell you what the weather will be, it shows you dynamically with impressive animation and graphics.

This is one amazing app! It works fine on my iPhone. Just wish I could get it for my 27 inch Mac screen. The wind display is really great.
